Udupi Shri Krishnapura Matha – Four Preliminary MUHURTHAS for the next Paryaya
The Shri Krishnapura Matha had performed the Baale Muhurta, The first of the Four major preliminary Muhurthas one year before the Paryaya festival.
During the Baale Muhurtha, plantain saplings along with Sugar can saplings and Tulasi were planted on the premises of the Matha. This is done to ensure plentiful supply of plantain leaves, which are used for “Anna Dana” (mass feeding) and Tulasi used for Pooja at the Shri Krishna Matha.
An elaborate rituals marked during the Baale-Muhurta where after offering prayers at the Krishnapura Matha, a group of devotees, scholars and priests visit the Shri Chandramouleshwara Temple, Shri Ananteshwara Temple and Shri Krishna Matha offer prayers. They then carried the plantain, tulsi and sugarcane saplings in a procession on Car Street, Udupi and the saplings were planted amid the chanting of mantras on the premises of Shri Krishnapura Matha later.He had carried out renovations of Goshala, Swamiji’s Vrindavana, Subramanya Shrine,Chowki/Mristhanna Shala, Upstairs of Chandrashale, the main entrance of Shri Krishna Matha & Madhva Sarovara at Udupi.The second preliminary Muhurtha is the Akki Muhurtha, the third one is the Kattige Muhurtha and the last is the Bhatta Muhurtha, in chronological sequence.
